India's First 64MP Camera Smartphone.

Updated: Nov 17, 2019

The budget smartphone Realme created quite a buzz in the Indian market last month with its Realme X smartphone, and now the smartphone maker is bringing launching yet another phone at an event in Delhi on August 8, with a 64-megapixel camera.

This will be the first phone with a 64-megapixel camera to launch in India. Moreover, it will also be the first phone by Realme in India to get a quad-camera setup.

Calling it the 'Camera Innovation' event, the phone is expected to feature a quad-camera setup at the back, with one of the cameras possessing a 64-megapixel sensor. The company had last month teased the device on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. The image was of the camera module with four cameras. This same is also revealed on the invite for the event in India.

Recently, even Xiaomi's Redmi teased an image of a 64-megapixel camera along with a quad-camera array. However, it looks like Realme could beat Redmi in this race.

Speaking of the camera, the device is expected to feature Samsung's newly unveiled 64-megapixel ISOCELL GW1. This is also the sensor that's expected to be loaded on the teased Redmi phone. The camera could get a plethora of features to improve image quality, including using its proprietary Tetra-Cell technology, which improves low light performance by merging four pixels in one and outputting 16-megapixel images.

This camera sensor is also capable of shooting in real-time HDR at 100 decibels (current cameras max out at 60 decibels, human eyes at 120 decibels) to deliver more vibrant hues.

When in perfect lighting conditions, expect the camera to deliver ultra-sharp images with 64-megapixels at the user's disposal, which will also come in handy while pixel-peeping.

We don't have any other information pertaining to the device's specifications or hardware as of now, however, considering Realme's strategy in India, the device is expected to be equally feature-loaded as the competition, with a competitive and reasonable price tag.
